We are issuing an open call for submissions to all local artists in the greater Boston area asking for works in response to the heroic actions that emerged from the Marathon Tragedy.  We are looking for a large volume and variety of submissions from artists across the Boston community.  The deadline for submissions will be March 1, 2014.

We are looking for submissions across all media that convey a sense of Boston pride, highlighting the heroic actions and sharing the stories of civilians, the runners, volunteers, first responders, or anyone involved.  We are also looking for submissions that deal with individual emotional responses to the event, keeping in mind that the overall message of the show is to convey the strength and compassion of the Boston community.

Our goal venue for the final exhibition of the body of these works is The Boston Public Library or the Hynes Convention Center.  We have extended our original deadline so this massive exhibition can coincide with next year’s Boston Marathon.  We hope that this new development will allow everyone interested in being involved the time and flexibility to make even more meaningful contributions. If you or someone you know is in a position to help us secure a space for the show, WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE YOUR HELP!

All works in this exhibition will be for sale with all of the proceeds to benefit Onefundboston.org and other organizations dedicated to helping those directly affected by the tragedy.

  1. I have one completed piece called “Alive” and another called “Stop Hurting People, Peace” which is in the process of completion. I am curious about how others are responding to this through their work.

    • Dear Marcus,

So far, we’re seeing a wide variety of responses in people’s submissions and idea proposals. I hope the variety in this perspective continues throughout our project!

Let me know if you have any questions!

      Best,
      Taylor Mortell
